Since the early 20th century, Cointreau has become a must have for bartenders who covet its clear composition and versatility. Its bold orange flavour has secured the spirit a place in over 350 cocktail recipes, including, of course, the Margarita. Created in 1948 by American socialite Margaret ‘Margarita’ Sames by mixing her two favourite spirits, Cointreau and tequila, the concoction was an immediate success, and to this day is a staple in bars and homes alike. As ‘Margarita’ famously said of her instantly iconic creation, “a margarita without Cointreau is not worth its salt”, it is only fitting that Cointreau invites you into the mix to celebrate the vital role it played in making cocktail history. Bringing together generations of loved ones, Cointreau’s incomparable freshness has solidified its role as the heart and soul of cocktail culture.
